Job status is still in limbo....Scott is officially in Arkansas....home life is boring!!

Scott has not officially moved yet, his company is packing and moving him but they haven't settled on a date. Hopefully it will be soon, I can't imagine having a duplex with nothing, I mean NOT A THING, in it! I feel bad for him, but am selfishly glad that he hasn't moved yet, that way we get to spend this weekend in Tulsa!

Home life....holy cow, I'm bored and have been completely lazy. I think it is because I am probably somewhat depressed. Which, is understandable, I guess....so after this week, I have house projects that are GOING to get done!!

At my conference last week, I was reacquainted with several people and who all were sympathetic to my job situation. If I want to continue down the career path I'm on, I don't think I will have any problems if I am willing to relocate. That's the bad thing. I don't really want to relocate!!! GRR!!!!!

Who knows, I have so many things up in the air, I need one to fall so I can then make other decisions......

My Google List....

Ok, here we go:

Suddenly Carrie needs more than deep-breathing exercises. ...

All Carrie needs is a decent haircut and the sanction of top jock Tommy. ...

naturally, what Carrie needs after a night like this is a nice, hot bath. She slowly, ritualistically climbs into the bath and scrubs herself madly like an ...

(OK, these first 3, in order, sound very similar to a "movie" I once saw...)

"The bottom line is that Michelle is quite barmy and needs Carrie and Barry's stability more than Carrie needs her. Not only that, but it royally sucks. I searched my computer at home. I searched all of my files, even broke out the old college folders that are in the top of the closet. Any guesses to what I was searching for????

Ding, ding ding!! You guessed it, my resume!! Could not find a copy of it anywhere! Then, for some divine reason, I thought about Monster.........

Surely they still wouldn't have a copy of it?? It's been almost 5 years since I posted it out there....

But, they did have it. And it is almost in the correct format.....thank goodness!! It just needs to now be updated with current information.

See, not all monsters are bad.

Random Thoughts

***I had to post the picture of the cats so I could have them as my profile picture.

***I like to play softball, but don't always like major league ball. Except for the World Series (if your world only includes Canada and the US) and this year I have watched the League Championship, which will determine who will play in the World Series. I'm rooting for the Angles and St. Louis, both of who are behind!!

***Insulation, not the itchy kind. Added more insulation to my house, it is extremely messy, especially when the stinkin' hose that connect to the blower keeps falling off! Needless to say, it is everywhere!

***Am going to work tomorrow to try to motivate people who, like myself, will be out of a job in January. We are going to get a pretty sweet severance package, so I won't have to eat bugs or like on the street for quite awhile, but am scared to death to get another job and have a controlling, over active boss. I like it where I am!

***On that note, I have woke up every morning thinking "It was just a dream, right??"

***Softball on Tuesday nights ends this week. I love my Tuesday night team. I will miss seeing them every week, and am wondering if I will be in Tulsa when the spring season starts next year.

***Can cats have bi-polar disease? Anyone who has spent time with Enzo can tell you what a sweet and lovable cat he is. When I take him to the vet, all he does is hiss and growl. The vet doesn't even want to go near him!!

***Wine is mostly yummy, but when it is bad, it is REALLY bad!

Profile

Thunk........Thunk.........Thunk

Yes, that is the sad, sad sound of me beating my head against the desk.

It is nice to know that I am a sucker. If you are "so stressed out, so busy they don't know where to begin", I guess, in hindsight, the best place to begin would be an oatmeal break.

My Thoughts.....

Have you ever just wanted to pull the lever and set off the fire alarm?

Where to begin.....

I know that everyone has some sort of family story, here is the story of Kayden:

Currently he is being raised by his great-grandparents (my grandparents). His mother and father are both alive but for their own reasons they don't take care of him. One reason is I don't think either one of them work, another is I believe they both do drugs. I do know that they receive some sort of government help, not sure if it is food stamps or WIC or what. So, thank you, all of you, who pay taxes, we are somewhat supporting them. I would like to support them by sending them to jail.

My quandry (sp?) is that my grandparents don't necessarily have the money and/or energy to keep up with a 2 1/2 year old. I'm not sure that I do, but we will get to that!! Also, Kayden gives them a reason to get up in the morning and they really do enjoy having him around. I'm very concerned about what will happen to him once something happens to my grandparents. On top of everything, Kayden is very skiddish around new people. He mostly hides behind my grandma, not wanting to talk to everyone. This is only going to hamper his learning and social development.

So, the crazy in me is thinking about what to do for him once something happens to my grandparents. This thought is scaring me to death, but the alternative (him with his drugged parents or DHS) is also not acceptable.

BTW

Enzo is trying to give him a kiss, not attack him!

Meet Kayden

Here is my cousin's son Kayden.

He is 2 1/2. I have an addition: Toenails should not be long. Finger nails, yes. Toenails, NO!

I am also imposing 2 rules for those women who wear tank tops:

1. In America, be sure to shave your armpits. It isn't the 70's anymore, people appreciate
hygiene!

2. Along the lines of hygiene, please, I beg you, double check that you are wearing deodorant.

I stopped at Panera on 15th yesterday after work. Scott and I were going to Stillwater to visit his grandma for her 89th birthday. The creature that took my order had more piercings on her face than my pin cushion, and I sew by the way. The lady in front of me had hot pink toe nails that increased her shoe size. As I'm waiting for Scott's sandwich, I keep smelling something that just isn't right. I couldn't put my finger on the smell until I was walking out the door. As I looked around, there was a girl with a tank top on. She seemed relatively clean and nice looking, but the smell said a lot!

Interviews

I think most people don't realize how much information they give away when they are being interviewed. One of our helpdesk guys left us to go to pharmacy school. That, in it's self, is pretty funny. Typically germaphobes don't go into pharmacy school.

So far, we have interviewed 3 people. No one is terribly excited about any of the applicants. We decided we would rather pull double duty than to hire one of the people we interviewed. Isn't that sad??

This one guy (an older guy), when asked why he was looking for another job, went into great detail about why he wanted to leave. I guess when he was hired at his current job, the then-boss had the idea of hiring our applicant as his replacement, he actually wanted to retire. While working on his resignation letter, the boss (goof!) actually sent the letter via email.

(That comment right there set off HUGE warning signals! I know that accidents happen, but good God, pay attention when you are preparing resignation letters!! Especially when you aren't actually ready to resign yet!)

I guess once this letter was sent out, our applicant wasn't asked to replace the original boss. According to the applicant, "another employee who has taken credit for a lot of my work was very friendly with the auditors and other key management figures. He received the job, so I am looking elsewhere."

Really, why would you tell a prospective employer this?? Just say there was a management change and you feel like your services would be better appreciated somewhere else!

TMI

Here is Gizmo

Isn't she cute? Well, at least until 2pm, when I go to my actual doctor. I think I have poison ivy/oak/sumac/somethingthatitcheslikehell....

According to pictures I viewed from Dr. Internet, I have it. It sucks. It itches. It's puss-y. It's blister-y.

I ventured to Wal-Mart last week. As I was wondering aimlessly throughout the aisles, I saw a pedometer. So, for $4.95, I now know how many steps I take in a day. According to the enclosed manual, if you walk 10,000 steps per day you should stay in good health. Accompany that with a healthy diet, you should lose weight as well.

Yesterday, I topped 10,000 steps. It is pretty easy. I don't walk that much between 8 and 5, but in the evenings, I am cruisin'!!

I also found out yesterday that my dad won 2nd place in a Big Bass Tournament on Saturday or Sunday! Yeah!! I'm really excited for him. He fishes a lot and likes to enter the tournaments. So, now he is a winner! :)

I am feeling like a winner also, down to 171!! :)

R2D2 Kicks Ass!

That's right, I saw the movie! Scott and I went Friday at 9:45pm. There weren't any long lines and the theater actually had quite a few empty seats. It was pretty funny, as the movie started, people were hoopin' and hollerin' and then everyone started clapping. It was funny!

I won't say anything else about it, I know some of you haven't seen it yet!

Saturday and Sunday were dedicated yard days. Actually, they were flowerbed days. I have discovered that all the ants of Tulsa live in my flowerbeds. I have also discovered that I hate ants. When you are sweaty and dirty, you just don't want to have an ant crawling on you!

Saturday night, we went to the Driller's baseball game with Kathy F. It was a lot of fun. The game started at 7:05 and we hadn't had dinner yet. So, we started with beer first!! Needless to say, we all enjoyed the game a lot more! I'm going to see Star Wars tonight, but not before I have dinner with Scott and his crush, Kat. She is a 21-something pole vaulter for ORU. She has graduated and is going back to Florida. She called Scott last night to tell him, and now we are all going to dinner together. The 3 of us. She used to be Seabolt's girlfriend, then kind of dated Dusty for awhile, and now, somehow, the last few times we have seen her, it has just been Kat, Scott, and myself. She is a really nice girl and I am probably just a little jealous, but why is she wanting to hang out with us? People 9-13 years older than her? So, she is now cancer free again. However, I think she is supposed to be checked over twice a year. My parents are of the generation that doesn't understand how to use health insurance. So, they don't really like going to the Dr. Me, it only costs me $10, so I will go for just about anything!

Still holding at 173, must be more strict, I've cheated a little this week!!

By reason of insanity

Ok, after yesterday's post, I decided to talk to Scott about my being sad that Jeff was leaving. I'm not really sure that he understood that I think I have a crush on Jeff. However, he did understand enough to come home early, help with dinner and the dishes and then actually talk to me about moving in.

He is not moving in. He says no matter how much he stays at my house, he doesn't want to upset either family by actually moving in. He said he would never feel comfortable. So then, we talked about marriage. Not a lot about it, not anything new has been said. He thinks that if we were to get married, it would be over and done with in about 2 years. How he came up with this, I'm really not sure. I didn't get to ask a lot of questions......

As for a weight/workout update:

Yesterday, 2 miles around the neighborhood
20 minutes on the balance ball

weight: 173 (not bad after all the food I ate this weekend!)

He dropped a bomb on me....

Wow! One of my friends here at work is quitting and moving back to Houston. I really like Jeff. We have hit happy hour a couple of times, always with a big group of people, but I have always felt like our relationship has been a little different. I've even kind of joked about him being my work boyfriend, even though we don't talk, other than happy hour or playing volleyball on Wednesdays.

He thinks he might want to enter the seminary. I am having some really strange feeling about all of this. I always get nervous around him when we are hanging out, but it has always been really easy to talk to him. I think I am more sad about him leaving than I probably should be.

I want to ask him why he is considering the seminary. He is 30 also and has never been in a really serious relationship. I just wonder if he really wants to be a priest or he is just tired of being asked why he isn't married. However, I think he is pretty smart and wouldn't be thinking about being a priest unless he was REALLY thinking about going through with it. Why am I being such a devil?? I want to ask him WAY to personal questions.....

Why am I so upset about him leaving and possibly becoming a priest??

It's Time for the Music

Ok, this weekend was the first lake weekend!! I am just a little pink, the SPF 30 kicked some sun ray's butts! :)

Friday night, the family played it's friendly game of poker. We play 30 minutes sessions of Texas Hold'em, the buy-in is a huge $1. I won both rounds! Yeah for me!! $16 richer!!

Saturday morning, all eight of us got up fairly early and went to Shangri-La to play 9 holes of golf. Last year, I started playing and was pretty good. This year, I suck! But, everyone had fun, so it was a great trip. When we returned to the house, there was a baby deer in one of the flowerbeds. It was so small and cute! We were pretty worried about it, but by Sunday morning, the mom and came and taken it home! We were glad, but Scott just laughed. He couldn't understand why everyone was so concerned about the baby deer, when in November, Bubba and Jeff will be out hunting them....don't fret, they won't be hunting the babies. Plus, they aren't very good shots anyway!

Then, Sunday, we all went to church. Church at the lake used to be awesome. It was a 40-45 minute mass, with an entrance and an exit song. That was it. Now, there is a new priest and he used to teach Drama at Notre Dame. That's cool, but his services run 60-75 minutes. When you are at the lake, (or anywhere for that matter) that is too dang long. So, Sunday, he somehow managed to wrap it up in about 55 minutes, then spent some time going over all of the bulletin announcements. Then, he opened the floor for anyone to announce anything they wanted. After about 10 minutes of this, an old guy in a wheelchair gave his announcement:

"It's time for the music"

Everyone laughed, and the exit song began. Thank goodness!!

Previous Life.....

I think I might have been a fat black man in a previous life. Then, about 25 seconds later, the girl that runs the little snack shop was having problems opening the door. As it closed on her, she was trying to open it again, I said "wait a sec, I'll get it" and she still kept trying to get the door......

So, in the elevator, I just decided I was invisible. UNTIL....dun dun dun.....I got to my email to see that I had 30 messages from a server that was supposed to be rebooted by our admin at 3 am. Obviously, the reboot didn't work. The funny thing is, he received the same 30 emails, but he also received 30 pages to his phone. Guess it wasn't that big of a deal, you know, servers being down and everything. So, I call him at 7:10. By this time, I have discovered that the server actually isn't down, it is just not accepting anyone's login. So, I can fix this, or I can restart the entire thing. Of course, he doesn't answer his phone!! Why do we even give him a stinkin' phone?!?! So, I wait. I wait some more. Then, after about 2 minutes, I decide I have much better stuff to do, like the crossword sitting on my desk, and decide to go back down to my floor. (I live on 17, the server room is on 20!) However, before I leave, I enable logins on the server so people who are here, and have to answer for their actions, are able to work on said server.

Once I get back here to my desk, I realize that our email is not sending mail. Crap, back up to the server room I go!! I'm not sure what it's problem was, but am also blaming it on the network admin. You make think that I am quick to throw blame, but after being here for 4 years, that tends to be the case 9 out of 10 times.....

Phone is ringing....it's now 7:44 and he is just calling me from 30 minutes ago....seems irritated that I didn't restart the server.....TOO DAMN BAD, ANSWER YOUR STINKIN' PHONE WHEN I CALL!!

On a more positive note, I walked/ran 2 miles last night and spent 35 minutes on the stability ball, listening to some super skinny chick talk about my core muscles. Ahhhh, the wonder of VHS tape, the people talk right to me, in my living room!!!!

Today's weight: 175

I know you aren't supposed to weigh every day, but I need CONSTANT nagging or I'll start to slip again!

The chunky-ness that is me!

Ok, world, prepare yourself for some horrific news. I am about to be (probably) the first woman ever to volunteer her weight. Yes, here on the internet, I'm going to tell all. I am hoping that I can shame myself into sticking with diet and exercise. For the past few years, I have put on weight, but is somehow surprising to me (in my warped mind) because I am fairly active. My problem is, that I can somehow justify every cheeseburger, taco, or piece of candy that I stuff into my every expanding body.

My honey has been losing weight all year. Last week, he told me how much he weighs and I now weigh more than my boyfriend. I am officially the chunky chick. I know I am not fat, but I'm getting close.....

So, starting today, I am exercising MORE and eating LESS!! I am also going to attempt to eat healthier, although I can't make too many promises about that. It seems as soon as I decide to do that, I fall apart and for some reason absolutely cannot eat healthy. It is pretty surprising because I eat a lot of healthy food! I will be posting the food that I cram in my mouth, so you might start to get bored if you are reading this site. However, I'm not too concerned about that, I'm more concerned with the fact that I will be posting my weight on the internet!

So today, I start out at 176! Can you believe it!?! I can't, therfore I must tell the world!!

And, so far today, I have had a cranberry almond breakfast bar that contained 140 calories. Alas, no exercise, as I could not get out of bed this morning, but plannning (I WILL DO IT) on exercising tonight!

Duh? I never went to the site, I didn't want to anger the people responsible for keeping me warm! However, I might go visit it today.

Yesterday I received a bil for $227.09!! The last 2 bills I had received were for $6.78. Now, I'm not a total dummy, I know that they should have been more than $6.78. I called ONG this morning to find out that my meter had quit working, that was the reason for $6.78 bills for 2 months. Supposedly, they replaced the meter on April 28th. Do they have to turn off the gas to replace the meter??? If so, I don't think they replaced the meter....

The smarty-pants at ONG determined the $227.09 amount from looking at last year's bills for the months of February, March, and April. Uh, I didn't live there last year and I'm pretty sure I keep my house colder than the previous homeowners. I'm pretty sure of this because I keep my house COLD. Right now, my thermostat is set on 60!! When I became upset with this, the guy on the phone told me that they do mark the amount down by 10%. Here's a thought, when a technician goes out to read the meter and sees that it does not work, change the meter then, don't wait 2 more stinkin' months!! I guarantee that my "actual" bill would not have been that high!!

GRRRRRRRRRRR!!

Suicidal Canadian Geese

Welcome to my blog!

I play softball 2-3 times per week on co-ed teams. On Tuesday, I was playing in the outfield (which I'm not very good), when I heard the "warm air" sound of Canadian Geese flying overhead. Flying RIGHT over my head in the outfield, soaring TOWARDS the infield, simply daring someone to hit the ball at them.

I guess I should have known that something was strange, for later that game, I hit a home run. A perfectly good home run, because I earned it, not because the other team made mistakes, or the field was short, or anything. It was a completely legitimate home run, the first one I can remember in my adult life!!

Yes, I rock!
